An Artist In Progress
Trying my best to get good…
I am learning to paint… Something I’ve always wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I’m busy experimenting with pastels, oils, linocut and watercolour, and there’s even a smattering of 24 carat gold thrown in occasionally!
Like an excited kid in a sweet shop I am eager to try everything! Every style, every medium, every genre. My “to try” list is endless!
I don’t have anything serious or profound to say about my work… Sorry to disappoint. No arty fluffy prose to impart here. I just feel the call to get on and do it!
At this stage, I’m just trying to create a nice picture, something someone might like to hang on their wall, or, if I paint a portrait at least achieve a vague likeness. It’s what makes me happy and gives me a sense of achievement.
My website is the diary of my journey as I learn to become a “proper” artist. I’m sharing my struggles and frustrations and hopefully a few successes too. It’s keeping me focused.
If you read my blog you can see the story of my progress so far, together with a few interesting arty articles and my thoughts here and there.
It would be lovely if you kept me company along the way, so please sign up for my occasional random newsletter and I will keep you in the loop…
Best wishes,
Kay Johnson
Why Kay Johnson Art?
I have always wanted to learn how to paint, ever since I became aware of my uncle's wonderful landscape oil paintings.
I am very much a beginner. This website is a diary of my journey as I learn to become a decent artist.
